Energy-Efficient Reliable Paths for On-Demand Routing Protocols
The authors define techniques to compute energy efficient reliable paths within the framework of on-demand routing protocols. Computation of minimum energy reliable paths for proactive protocols can be performed by simply using the appropriate cost metric in distributed route computation. No additional changes to the protocols are needed. In this paper, they show that such an approach does not work for on-demand protocols and some additional mechanisms are needed to compute energy-efficient paths. In this paper, they focus on one specific on-demand routing protocol, namely Ad-hoc On-Demand routing protocol (AODV), and show how it can be enhanced to compute such energy-efficient reliable paths.
