In this paper, the authors present an energy efficient scheduling algorithm for clustered wireless sensor networks. The main objective is to provide optimized Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) schedules that can acquire high power efficiency, reduced interference, reduced conflict and reduced end-to-end delay over a wide network. To obtain this objective, a joint optimal design of network, Medium Access Control (MAC) and physical layers is considered to reduce the overall energy consumption. The slot reuse concept is applied to derive the TDMA schedule to minimize the frame length. The numerical results reveal that the presented solution reduces per bit energy consumed and end-to-end delay significantly.
