Enhanced Spectrum Awareness with Extended Information Carried on Embedded Cyclostationary Signatures for Cognitive Radio
Embedded Cyclostationary Signature (ECS) was recently developed as a useful tool for facilitating detection, classification, frequency acquisition and spectrum rendezvous for wireless devices or networks. In this paper, the authors present a novel technique for conveying extended information on ECS in multi-carrier signals. The extended information may include device/network identity, geo-location data and spectrum allocation, etc. In this way, the proposed technique can greatly increase the amount of information which can be obtained using spectrum sensing. This can facilitate the coordination and coexistence among heterogeneous wireless devices/networks that operate in complex, dynamic radio environments.
