Erosion of the Rotor Disc in a Geothermal Turbine of 110 MW

This study is based upon a numerical calculation compressing a comparison of results from two computational models for turbulence, a Reynolds stress, RSM, and a Renormalization Group Theory, RNG. According to these conditions the relationship between solid article erosion and flow patterns is due to a vapor/solid particles jet from the labyrinth seal hitting directly on the disc transition radius at high speed. The simulations, however, show that it is possible to reduce the erosion process by increasing the distance from the labyrinth seal to the rotor disc as proposed.
