The latest version of Microsoft's email server, Exchange 2010, continues to be a critical business and productivity application. Even short periods of downtime can have a serious impact as companies increasingly rely on email for business data, collaboration and communication. This new version has added even more High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities. Although Exchange 2010 includes robust server based replication services, this paper focuses on IBM's storage-based replication as another HA and DR option. IBM Metro Mirror and Global Mirror can consolidate a company's data replication efforts, while removing the load from network and server resources.
