Many research have been performed investigating the challenging issue of efficiently utilizing the network-wide capacity available in the multi-hop wireless mesh networks with multiple radios and multiple channels. In these paper, multi-hop routing and channel assignment are two intertwined issues. In this paper, the authors present summaries of these work based on two broad categorizations in terms of algorithm features, namely the centralized approaches and the distributed approaches. Due to the multiple dimensions of the topics, they subgroup the papers in terms of how routing and channel assignments are treated. They include channel assignment based on given connectivity graph, joint design of routing and channel assignment, and routing with considerations on channel selection.
