Financial Crises And European Regulatory Frameworks

The current crisis in the financial system has resulted in many calls for approaches to the handling of financial service firms in crisis. Crises in the financial system are not a new phenomenon - some 93 countries have experienced crises in their financial systems since the 1970s - but even so, the measures taken to strengthen the financial systems have been insufficient to prevent recurring crises. Several of the countries that have had a financial crisis have suffered substantial negative economic effects and unrest in the financial markets.
