Executive Summary

The U.S. Treasury's White Paper contains a number of proposals that will not directly affect New Hampshire financial institutions. For example, no New Hampshire institution has the size, leverage or interconnectedness that its failure could threaten systemic financial stability. In like manner, changes to the regulatory structure for securitization and OTC derivatives and the harmonization of futures and securities regulations are not of general interest to New Hampshire institutions. The White Paper proposes the creation of a Consumer Financial Protection Agency ("CFPA").
