Fingerprint Based Gender Identification Using Frequency Domain Analysis

Although Fingerprints are one of the most mature biometric technologies and are considered legitimate proofs of evidence in courts of law all over the world, relatively little machine vision method has been proposed for gender identification. Few researchers addressed the use of fingerprint for gender identification which will be more helpful in short listing the suspects. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to estimate gender by analyzing fingerprints using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Power Spectral Density (PSD).
