Forward Recovery of an Oracle Database Using Enhanced Remote Mirroring on DS4000 and DS5000

Free registration required

Executive Summary

Restoring data in a database to a previous point in time often means restoring a previous backup from disk or tape, and then rolling forward to the point in time before a problem occurred. One of the best ways to accomplish this task is to use the Oracle Roll Forward Recovery process. By using the Oracle Roll Forward Recovery process, one can start with a full backup image of the database, and then roll forward through the archive logs to recover to a specific System Change Number (SCN), Date and Time, or until one, as the Oracle Database administrator, cancel the recovery process.
