Power line communication technologies are now reliable, efficient and cheap enough to provide solution both to narrow band and to broad band communication needs such as, respectively, command and control and video and audio streaming. Existing protocols and solutions now guarantee coexistence between narrow band streams and broadband streams. Integrated multimedia devices and systems that share both broadband and narrow band power line communication technologies need to guarantee the capacity to inter-operate with both communication systems. Interoperability is somehow related and dependent on the kind of devices and systems that use at same time broadband and narrowband streams.
