Generation of 60 GHz AM-PM Millimeter-Wave Signal Optically
A scheme for the optical generation and modulation of mm-wave signal is proposed. The components required for the proposed mm-wave generator are an optical pulse source, a WDM demultiplexer, optical modulators and a wideband photodiode. Two coherent lightwaves are selected from the optical pulse and are modulated and then heterodyned in a wideband photodiode to get the difference frequency signal whose frequency falls in the mm-wave band. The authors have shown analytically that by modulating the optical waves, the modulation can be transferred to the generated mm-wave.
