Research comparing the global operating models of emerging-market and triadbased companies is needed because there's persistent uncertainty about whether emerging-market companies have developed innovative global operating models that give them a competitive advantage in a multi-polar world. We need to understand better under what contingencies certain configurations of global operating models deliver superior performance. To do so, inverting the lens and focusing on emerging-market leaders is important. This paper identifies a few research opportunities and proposed some preliminary questions.
