This paper presents the design and implementation of a remote sensing system for humidity and temperature in real time. The design based on using GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) network for remote monitoring and Xilinx CoolRunner2 CPLD for the hardware design of the controller circuit. The design has been described using VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) and tested in hardware using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), and GSM (Global System for Mobile) network for remote sensing. This system offers a complete, low cost, powerful and user friendly way of 24 hours realtime monitoring for crop and soil status in greenhouses.
