Nowadays, Web and cloud services have become irreplaceable cornerstones of both enterprise productivity and user entertainment. While the fact that Web permeates many aspects of the peoples lives is no secret to anyone, the power-consumption induced by these services is not obvious either. In this paper, the authors gauge the power-consumption of end-user PCs browsing the Web, with special attention to Flash technology, and offer a very simple yet effective solution to limit unnecessary power expenditures. Since the mass-market adoption of networking technology, the Web has often been used as a synonym for the Internet.
