As NLE systems such as Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, and Adobe Premier continue to add support for higher spatial resolutions (2k, 4k, etc.) and high-quality codecs such as ProRes 4444 and DNxHD, the demands on data storage systems continue to increase. Modern file-based workflows offer the promise of "online all-the-time" no-proxy editing and finishing, but only if the storage can keep up. Storage performance becomes even more critical in a workgroup scenario, where it is vital that the storage subsystem be capable of supplying all users with full res video streams simultaneously to ensure maximum workflow efficiency and enable real-time collaboration.
