HP Proxy: Hot-Point Proxy Caching with Multivariate Sectoring for Multimedia Streaming
In recent years, watching videos through Video-On-Demand (VOD) is increased dramatically. Many strategies such as Content Delivery Network, Proxy Caching have been developed for continuous media delivery to the viewers. The proxy caching schemes are mainly considered to increase the byte hit ratio and decrease delayed startup. But, all strategies regulate the storage of a proxy server using cache replacement policies which keeps the most popular segments and removes least popular segments. The popularity of the video segments is available after certain period of time and calculated based on user's access patterns. But, the popularity of video segments would not available during initial loading time of video and for some time.
