The paper highlights the use and importance of an Open Source Software for Human Resource Information Systems. Open Source Software development projects are Internet-based communities of software developers who voluntarily collaborate to develop software that they or their workplace may require. They present a challenging, novel and successful alternative to conventional models and also offer opportunities for a view into their detailed inner workings. The project operates by way of detailed and time-stamped logs of most interactions among community members and of project outputs are generated in an automatic fashion. This makes open source software projects important as research sites for many types of studies.
