Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is an emerging technology that can be considered as a possible alternative for semiconductor transistor technology. It has many attractive features such as very high speed, reduced size and low power consumption than transistor based technology. Reed Solomon code is used to protect the transmitted data across the communication channel. In this paper, the authors discuss the implementation of high speed Reed Solomon decoder circuit using nanotechnology based on Quantum Cellular Automata (QCA). The area and complexity are the major issues in circuit design. Here they propose effective EX-OR gate and AND gates to perform all computation of Reed Solomon decoder circuit designs based on Quantum dot Cellular Automata (QCA) that reduces number of QCA cells and area compare to previous designs.
