Improving Energy Efficiency and Security for Disk Systems

Improving security and minimizing power consumption are crucial for large-scale data storage systems. Although a handful of studies have been focused on data security and energy efficiency, most of the existing approaches have concentrated on only one of these two metrics. In this paper, the authors present a new approach to integrating power optimization with security services to enhance the security of energy-efficient large-scale storage systems. In their approach, they make use of the dynamic speed control for power management technique, or DRPM, to conserve energy in secure storage systems.
