Dyslexia is a disability in the brain's processing. It is characterized by difficulties in reading, writing, and retaining information in short-term memory, though it does not affect vision, hearing, or intelligence. The number of people who experience dyslexia may be around 6-10% of the population. It varies from language to language, but, in English-speaking countries according to one estimate, around 20 percent of the population suffers from related difficulties. Assistive Technology (AT) based on Information Technology (IT) can offer effective support for such people, but there are few studies on which kinds of support are useful for people with dyslexia when they are browsing the Web.
