Increasing Design Throughput With Work Stations Based on Intel Xenon Processor 5600 Series
In Intel IT tests simulating the daily workflow of a silicon design engineer, a workstation based on the new Intel Xeon processor 5600 series completed multiple, concurrent electronic design automation (FDA) application workloads up to 4.75x faster than a workstation based on Intel Xeon processor 51 00 series and up to 1 .37x faster than a workstation based on Intel Xeon! Processor 5500 series. In the tests, each system completed a total of 24 jobs, using multiple front-end and back-end FDA applications operating on real Intel silicon design workloads. With a total of 1 2 processor cores, the workstation based on Intel Xeon processor X5680 provided higher throughput by running 1 2 jobs concurrently and completing them more quickly.
