With virtualization becoming a standard part of the data center vernacular, the focus for IT administrators is beginning to turn from deploying virtualization to managing virtualization. For all but the smallest virtualization deployments, creating a simple and efficient management infrastructure can be an ongoing challenge. Virtualization management encompasses the Virtual Machines (VMs) themselves as well as the hardware platforms on which the hypervisors and associated VMs run. The Microsoft System Center suite includes three products that administrators can use to manage physical and virtualized environments: System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and System Center Essentials (SCE) for physical environments and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) for virtualized environments.
