Investors looking for new ways to diversify a portfolio should consider international small companies. While many U.S. investors include U.S. small and mid caps and international large caps in their portfolios, relatively few consider international small companies. This omission is likely due to a lack of familiarity, because an examination of the investment attributes demonstrates that this asset class deserves a place in most portfolios. This paper analyzes international small- and mid-cap companies to show their advantages over U.S. small and mid caps.
