Interoperability Between Wireless Networks Using FPGA Based Advanced Gateway
In a communication network, a network node equipped for interoperability with another network can use different protocols and frame formats. So, there is a need for protocol conversion to provide a match between the source and destination networks. To satisfy the requirements of protocol conversion and thus to provide interoperability, gateways are used. In this paper, the authors design and implement an advanced FPGA based gateway architecture that allows multiple data transmission to communicate between different wireless networks like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ZigBee. The gateway architecture is named - "Heterogeneous gateway" as it provides multiple interfaces to three different wireless networks for supporting various applications.
