Introducing the WebSphere V7 Secure Proxy Server for z/OS

A proxy server is a server that accepts HTTP requests from a web browser and forwards the requests to any number of application servers for which it serves. In version 6.0, WebSphere introduced the proxy server to the list of servers that could be defined within the cell. This proxy server is still available and is very effective for use with secure zone applications. The regular proxy server brings with it many benefits that are desirable in a front end device such as cross-cell routing, workload management, and several other services that reduce stress on the back end applications servers.
