Executive Summary

This paper presents the investigation of antennas for the reader of the Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) system. The reader antennas of the low frequency and high frequency RFID applications are designed based on the principle of magnetic field couplings. The communication performance depends on the magnetic field strength of the communicable position in the considered volume. If the considered magnetic field is stronger than the activated field strength, the communication is successful. For the ultra-high frequency and microwave RFID systems, the principle of electromagnetic radiation is applied.
