The amount of structured data on the Web is ever growing, RDF data in particular. Efficient query processing that can scale to large amounts of possibly schema-less data has become an important research topic. Along this line, the paper elaborates on a novel schema-agnostic approach, which leverages the structure underlying the data. It is based on the notion of structure index, which is basically a summary of the data like a schema. This structure index lays the foundation for the physical grouping of data (structure-based data partitioning) as well as a novel query processing strategy based on operations on these data groups (structure-level processing). The paper discusses advanced concepts for combining this structure-level processing with standard query processing based on data-level operations.
