Faster processors and cheaper storage has had a catalytic effect on the amount of information being generated on a daily basis. However, most of this information becomes redundant because it is not available to a potential user, at the right time. Another major development of the authors' times has been the unprecedented popularity of wireless technologies like GPRS, BlueTooth, WiFi, FireWire, Zigbee, WiMax etc. Collectively they enable data delivery to the end user, while on the move. However the authors must note that mobile computing today is more about extended cable-less operations rather than being truly pervasive.
