Making the 2010 Business Case for SRM
Within the last few months Evaluator Group has seen a surge in interest in Storage Resource Management (SRM) applications among the enterprise storage user clients. The authors believe this is happening for at least four reasons: Networked storage environments are finally perceived to be too large and complex to manage and support or service efficiently. The ability to measure performance within the I/O chain from server to storage array is critically important to advancing server virtualization projects. Headcount within the IT operations management group is frozen at current levels while storage growth continues at levels that are unsustainable given status quo hiring policies.
