This paper could be seen as an extension to his "Notes on credentialing and assessing project managers" in a recent issue of this journal. However, it moves away from generic assessments and accreditation of project manages to the more immediate practical challenge of finding the right project managers for the right projects, or, in a more general sense in the context of this paper, for the right types of projects. Project management standards are intentionally generic, and do not capture the complexities and variations of specific project environments.
