In this paper, the authors present of mechanisms for reducing re-authentication delay in Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). They survey some common re-authentication methods e.g. 802.11r and ERP and they compare the methods' efficiency. The focus is in managed networks, where client authenticate by the default to a remote Authentication, Authorization, Accounting server (AAA-server). In re-authentication the client and AAA-server change information and after that the AAA-server recognises the client and AP which it is in registered.
