The VRP was first introduced by the authors, where the objective is to find the optimal set of routes for a fleet of vehicles in order to serve a given set of customers. Also a VRP in a broad sense is a generic name given to whole class of problems in which a set of routes for a fleet of vehicles based at one or several depots must be determined for a number of geographically dispersed cities or customers. Because of its overall presence in the fields of transportation, distribution and logistics VRP arises as one of the most challenging combinatorial optimization tasks even it is defined more than forty years ago.
