Ethernet has become a standard data transport paradigm for embedded systems in many applications since the transport technology is cheap, abundant, mature and reliable. This paper has implemented an Altera Nios II based system for data acquisition and transfer over Ethernet using User Datagram Protocol (UDP). The network client (The data source) is implemented in FPGA using Verilog HDL and C languages; and the network server (The data recorder) is running on the host PC using Python code.
