Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is an appropriate product for many business-critical applications. There are many different ways to design the underlying storage. This paper has introduced how SQL Server stores its data on disk, and has explored various options that can be used to design a storage solution on NetApp storage systems. To be successful, spend the time to identify and understand required service-level agreements. Then, utilize the SQL Server and NetApp storage features that have been discussed in this report to create a storage and data management design that meets the requirements. Once a solution has been designed and implemented, run tests to establish a baseline.
