Midmarket Data Center Architecture: Ethernet

The Cisco mid market architecture is designed to meet the needs of businesses with 100 to 200 servers per data center. The Ethernet portion of the architecture is designed for both scalability and simplicity; it can scale up to 576 servers, and multiple network layers can be collapsed into a single aggregation and core layer with a unified access layer. It incorporates a unified fabric that provides both network and storage access through a low-latency. 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) network. The design is structured around nonblocking paths using virtual PortChannels (vPCs).
