MIMO Performance of Diversity-Rich Compact Six-Port Dielectric Resonator Antenna Arrays in Measured Indoor Environments at 2.65 GHz

Executive Summary

MIMO systems can achieve linear capacity gain proportional to the number of antennas. However, the compactness of terminal devices limits the number of spatial degrees of freedom in such systems, which highlights the need for efficient design techniques to exploit all available degrees of freedom. In this contribution, the authors present a diversity-rich yet compact six-port Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) array to achieve spatial, polarization and pattern diversities across the antenna ports. To evaluate the proposed DRA array for Wireless LAN-type applications, a channel measurement campaign was conducted at 2.65GHz in indoor office scenarios.
