Mobility Assisted Optimization Algorithms for Sensor Node Deployment
Wireless sensor networks were deployed for collecting information about the remote environment. The sensor nodes were randomly dropped by using flying robots or aircrafts on the target field which was unreachable by man. That method resulted in uncovered and sparsely covered areas. It was also found that in certain areas the sensors were densely deployed. Hence, it could not be possible to monitor and control the entire area. The coverage of the sensor network would depend on the sensing range of the sensor and the coverage holes would also have an impact on general network performance. The authors had analyzed the mobility assisted deployment of sensor nodes using two algorithms namely Genetic Algorithm and Voronoi Vertex Averaging Algorithm.
