Rapid advancements in technologies, regular emergence of new technologies and new business paradigms for "Doing business" lead to an enforced competition in global markets and raise new challenges for networked businesses such as shortened time-to-market cycles or shortened time-to-make decisions. Within this global environment, alliances are formed aiming to gain strategic advantages over competitors. Various possibilities of combining classic production factors and knowledge are given.
