A key objective of the National Broadband Network (NBN) announced by the Rudd Government on April 7th is to drive national benefits far beyond the simple provision of high-speed internet to consumers in Australia. A whole raft of services is envisaged to be delivered over the network, stretching from areas as diverse as power meter monitoring and burglar alarms, through to remote health care and education delivered by high-definition video conferencing. But perhaps the most important - and widely-used - service that NBN could transform is the delivery of TV services.
