Nearest Neighbour Decoding with Pilot-Assisted Channel Estimation for Fading Multiple-Access Channels

This paper studies a non-coherent Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) fading Multiple-Access Channel (MAC). The rate region that is achievable with nearest neighbor decoding and pilot-assisted channel estimation is analyzed and the corresponding pre-log region, defined as the limiting ratio of the rate region to the logarithm of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) as the SNR tends to infinity, is determined. The authors study a two-user Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) fading Multiple-Access Channel (MAC), where two terminals wish to communicate with a third one, and where the channels between the terminals are MIMO fading channels. They consider a non-coherent channel model, where all terminals are aware of the statistics of the fading but not of its realization.
