Network parameters such as Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR), throughput, and packet loss rate can be used for measuring the wireless network performance which highly depends on the wireless network conditions. Previous works on energy consumption have shown that the performance of wireless networks have impact on the energy efficiency of data transmission. Hence, it is potential to gain energy savings by adapting the data transmission to the changing network conditions. This adaptation requires accurate and energy-efficient prediction of the network performance parameters. In this paper, the authors focus on the prediction of SNR and the prediction-based network adaptations for energy savings.
