Cloud computing offers extraordinary benefits and efficiencies to organizations. Organizations can now purchase computing resources on an as-needed basis without the overhead and costs of managing their own IT resources. However, with those efficiencies come many hurdles that must be overcome. Understanding what is going on behind the opaque wall of the cloud, knowing where the data are actually stored, wondering if the data is secured and available, are all very important questions that need answers if the potential of cloud computing is to be realized. In the authors' research, they have addressed four of the major issues of network security with the focus on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in a shared environment.
