High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an extremely successful standard for consumer electronic equipment, with over 850 manufacturers adopting the HDMI standard and an estimated one billion HDMI-enabled devices expected to be on the market in 20101. The latest version of the HDMI standard is HDMI 1.4. The HDMI 1.4 standard was approved in June of 2009 and replaced HDMI 1.3.
