It's a good few years now since the antivirus industry warned users of how the floppy disk was the main channel of infection between computers. At that time, the Internet was still in the conceptual stage, and floppy disks were the normal choice when moving information from one computer to another. Malware creators therefore produced malicious files that could use these disks to spread from system to system. Floppy disks have gradually given way to CDs and DVDs, and the Internet currently offers endless ways of sharing information. Additionally, floppy disks have been replaced by another portable tool for storing and carrying information: USB devices. These small, easily portable devices allow users to store and transport a large amount of information.
