High-definition video streaming and peripheral device communication on wireless access are promising applications of multi-gigabit 60-GHz Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs). For such different requirements, a frame design methodology is required which is different from that applied for the conventional Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) and WPANs. This paper proposes a novel frame design methodology on PHY layer for the multi-gigabit 60-GHz WPANs supporting those applications. The proposed methodology is that preamble and header are designed to be further protected against payload, on the basis of 2-digit improvements in synchronization error probability and header error rate over payload bit error rate.
