Executive Summary

Data Grid has been adopted as the next-generation platform by many scientific communities to share, access, transport, process, and manage large data collections distributed worldwide. The increasing popularity of Data Grid as a solution for large dataset issues as well as large-scale processing problems promises the adoption of many organizations that have a great demand at this moment. This requires applying innovative business model to conventional Data Grid. In this paper, the authors propose a business model based on outsourcing approach and a framework called the Economic-aware Data Grid that takes the responsibilities of coordinating operations.
