On the Ineffectiveness of Today's Privacy Regulations for Secure Smart City Networks
Urban growth and migration are putting significant stress on city infrastructure as demand outpaces supply for water, energy, transportation, health-care, education, and safety. Innovative solutions are requested to improve basic services in this scenario. To this end, the community is focusing on smart cities, which refers to an urban transformation to reduce costs and improve efficiencies using latest ICT technologies. Given the absolute dependence everyday's human life has on reliable information & communication technologies, issues related to privacy and security have come into limelight. This paper exposes and discusses privacy issues and emphasizes the inappropriateness of today's regulations regarding these issues.
