How does a large (Fortune 100), progressive multinational corporation represent, understand, and operationalize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)? In addressing this question, the authors analyze Intel Corporation's publicly available information, primarily its Corporate Responsibility reports, in light of the reflections of a retired Intel executive who observed, and was extensively involved in, CSR functions over his career. The paper describes the public face of CSR and the relationship between these public personae and the related activities of the corporation, enhancing the ability to understand and evaluate CSR reports.
