Based on recent proliferation of online education and ongoing technological revolution, this paper focuses on interaction of students and faculty as a main contributor to the success of online education. A survey of 22 items was distributed to faculty members and students from the Midwest of the U.S. and 3 Eastern European countries during the period of 2002-2003. The data collected reflects students and faculty opinions about the state of technology and online communication. The results confirm findings from the literature about digital divide between developed and emerging countries.
